What is PBH?
In 1998, a professional roller hockey league was born on the beach and broadcast internationally on ESPN. Mixing extreme sports, pro wrestling, and surf culture—Pro Beach Hockey was the wild result.
Set in Surf City USA (Huntington Beach, California), it became a massive pop-culture phenomenon, beating the NHL in TV ratings, before vanishing just two years later.
PS — The rumors are true.... PBH is coming back.
What Are the Rules?
This ain’t your grandpa’s hockey. A few unique twists that made PBH so special:
- No penalty box on the beach. All infractions resulted in a penalty shot!
- Score from behind the 20 ft. arc? That’s two points, baby. Let those slapshots fly.
- There are giant ramps behind each net. Why? Well—why the heck not?
