About the Film
Pro Beach Hockey is a feature-length documentary celebrating the 1990s golden era of roller hockey in Southern California. Led by an unforgettable cast of characters, the sport exploded from beach parking lots to packed stadiums—and briefly captured the imagination of a generation of kids who never had access to ice.
This film explores the rise and fall of the sport and its incredible impact on hockey’s accessibility in non-traditional markets.
A fast-paced blast of 90s nostalgia, this documentary reminds you that sports docs don’t need to be so serious.

The Team
Jake Cimperman
Director
Jake has been leading this project since 2020. Prior to Pro Beach Hockey, he produced and directed unscripted content for Major League Baseball and Bleacher Report. Every week, he plays beach roller hockey in Santa Monica (but strictly for research purposes).
Jeanie Buss
Executive Producer
As the owner of the Los Angeles Blades, Jeanie Buss brought professional roller hockey to Southern California. From 1993–1997, the Blades were one of Roller Hockey International’s most successful franchises. In addition to being a key catalyst in the sport’s growth, Jeanie is now the Governor and Owner of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Max McCormick
Producer
Max brings an entrepreneurial spirit and resourcefulness to PBH. He’ll do whatever it takes to execute an idea and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. The same could be said for his hockey career, where he has spent 856 minutes sitting in the penalty box.
Chris Driedger
Producer
With a large network of industry contacts, Chris leads development for Sin Bin Studios. Whether it’s pitching a new idea or distributing a final product, no concept is too outrageous. As a goalie, he also knows that having a screw loose is basically a job requirement, which makes him a perfect fit for independent filmmaking.
